The Lucky One By Nicholas Sparks (Historical Fiction) (Romance)

     I read the book The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks and published by Grand Central Publishing.  This is a story that all starts with the photograph of a smiling girl that U.S. Marine Logan Thinbault found buried in the dirt during his tour in Iraq.  After finding this picture, Logan ends up having a winning string of luck and claims that his good fortune comes from the photo he found.
     After returning home in Colorado, Logan keeps thinking of the woman in the picture and sets out to find her.  He ends up encountering another woman named Elizabeth and puts the picture in the back of him mind for the time being. Can he hold this secret forever before it ruins his relationship with Elizabeth?
     I would not have this be a book that children would be required to read in my classroom.  I feel that this book is more appropriate for older people maybe in high school and up.  I think children could use this book for a general book report where the assessment is a choice.  Choices could be poems, posters about the book, book trailers, author study, etc.
