Where the Sidewalk Ends: The Poems and Drawings of Shel Silverstein (Poetry)

     I read Where the Sidewalk Ends: The Poems and Drawings of Shel Silverstein by Shel Silverstein. The author and illustrator are both Shel Silverstein.  Each page introduces a new short poem and creative drawings.  These are all creative and silly poems that are just perfect for children of all ages.   The illustrations are simple but cute and have character that children will love.  

     I think a great classroom activity would be to have children either memorize and recite a poem from this book, or write their favorite poem and decorate around it as an assessment, or just host a class tea party or poetry party where we sit and listen to each child in the class present their favorite poem from the book.
