Rumbelstilktskin by Brothers Grimm (Fairytale) (Traditional)

I read Rumplestiltskin written by the Brothers Grimm.  There once was a poor miller who had a beautiful daughter.  The miller had to go see the king.  When he went to see the king, he told the king that his daughter could spin straw into gold.  The king was impressed and asked that he bring his daughter to him tomorrow to see for himself.  When the daughter arrived, the king locked her along in a room with straw and a spinning wheel and told her that if she didn't spin the straw into gold by the morning he would kill her.  The girl was so scared because she couldn't spin the straw into gold and so she began to cry.  A small man came into the room and asked her why she was crying.  She told him that she couldn't do it.  The man said he would spin the straw into gold for her if she gave him something.  She gave him her necklace and he then spun all of the straw into gold.  The king came in the next morning and was very pleased.  He decided he wanted more.  He locked the girl in another room with even more straw and told her if she didn't complete the task again, she would die.  Once she was alone in the room, she began to cry.  The small man came in again and asked her what she would give him if he spun the straw into gold.  She was she would give him her ring.  He accepted this and spun all of the straw into gold. The king came in the next morning and was very pleased.  He told her if she could complete this task one more time that she would become his wife.  She wanted this very much. The small man asked her what she'd give him this time.  She said she had nothing left to give.  He told her that if she gave him her first born child, he would spin the straw for her.  She accepted this and the next morning was married to the king.  A year later she fell pregnant When she gave birth, the small man wanted her child.  She said she didn't want to.  The small man told her that if she wanted to keep her child she had three days to figure out what his name was.  She reached all throughout the land and could not figure out his name.  The queen listened in on the small man singing and at once heard him sing his name, Rumplestilkskin.  She told him that she knew his name, Rumplestiltskin.  She was able to keep her child and was never bothered by him again!
I honestly don't think I wold ever share this story with my students.  If I did, I think we would discuss honesty and what we would do if we were in the situations of the miller, the daughter, king, and Rumplestiltskin.
