I love the illustrations in this book. Although the book was written in 1985, the illustrations portray a time setting from a much older time. I read this book a lot as a child and my favorite thing about this book were the illustrations. I loved examining all the tiny details and imagining myself in the story. This story uses a lot of repetitive language which allows younger readers to follow the story more easier. I think this book is a great book with easy to follow language and unique and detailed illustrations.
I think a great classroom activity a teacher could do with their classroom would be to have each student add their own page to the story. Students could create their own illustration to the story. This is the perfect activity because this story is relatively repetitive. This allows room for additional pages to be added by students.
